Everest Base Camp standing at 5,360m is where the adventure will take us, but it is the views of the majestic Mount Everest standing at 8,848m and the magnetism of the highest mountain in the world is why we go. Nepal plays host to our Everest trek and the journey to Everest Base Camp will afford you a unique opportunity to visit Kathmandu, the Namche Bazaar and take in the culture and meet the Nepalese people.

Nepal is a country in a league of its own with breathtakingly beautiful scenery, a fascinating culture and friendly people. Meeting the villagers whilst Everest trekking through this landlocked gem of a nation is one of its greatest pleasures. Our route takes us via the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar through beautiful valleys, dense forests and across glacial rivers before we reach the renowned viewpoint of Kalapatar, on the approach to Everest Base Camp, and see the highest mountain on the planet. We also have time to explore the colourful and frenetic capital of Kathmandu.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu (1310m). Transfer to Hotel.

Meeting at airport upon arrival by Adventure Connexion representative. Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and the Kathmandu Valley is the political and cultural heart of the Kingdom. Evening some briefing about Everest Base Camp with trekking guide . Overnight at hotel.

  • Day 02 Fly Kathmandu to Lukla (2800m). Trek to Phakding (2600m)

We fly from Kathmandu (1350m) to Lukla (2886m) in a small airplane and we will see an amazing aerial view of Mount Everest. The flight lasts about 40 minutes, and from Lukla we will trek for 3 hours to Phakding (2640m). Depending on the time of our morning flight, we may have breakfast in Kathmandu or Lukla. From Lukla, we will have great views of Kusum Kangru (6369m). The trail to Phaking has numerous ascents and descents through forests and rocky cliffs.

  • Day 03. Trek Phakding (2600m) to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

The distance between Phakding and Namche Bazaar is not that far, however, the high altitude can make this trek difficult. The best strategy is to trek at a slow and gentle pace. Namche Bazzaar is a large town surrounded by two great valleys, Dudh Kosi and Bhote Kosi. It is also the gateway to Mount Everest.  There are well-stocked markets and shops giving you one last chance to buy anything that you may have forgotten.

  • Day 04 Excursion day around Khunde and Syanboche

We will spend a second night at Namche Bazaar, which is a great place to spend an extra when acclimatising. Even if you feel fantastic, it is important to sleep at this altitude as it will help in your ascent to Everest Base Camp. During the day, you can hike to the Sherpa village of Khunde and Syanboche , or you can choose to relax and explore the mountain village of Namche.

  • Day 05 Trek Namche to Tengboche (3860m)

On the trek to Tengboche, we will experience our first great views of the Everest, Lhoste, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam peaks. The trail has a steep descent towards a bridge over the Dudh Kosi. Then we climb up a zigzagging path through rhododendron bushes. There are some superb mountain sceneries towards Tengpoche, which is famous for its legendary monastery - the largest in the Everest Region.

  • Day 06 Trek Tengboche (3860m) to Dingboche (4410m)

Shaded by rhododendron trees, the trail crosses an airy suspension bridge just beyond Deboche. An hour’s walking from here will bring us to Pangboche, an excellent viewpoint for Ama Dablam (‘Mother’s Charm Box’) and home for the Sherpas who work on this imposing mountain each post monsoon season. Contouring up the valley side, we will cross the river again and turn up the Imja Valley to reach the picturesque farming village of Dingboche at 4,410m.

  • Day 07 Trek Dingboche (4400m) to Lobuche (4930m)

We will retrace our steps back to Pheriche before continuing along the trail up the broad valley bottom towards Dugla. Ahead of us is the trekking peak of Lobuche East (6,119m/20,075ft) and to our left is the formidable north face of Taweche, the scene of many cutting-edge Himalayan ascents of the 1980s and 1990s. After three hours, we reach the small collection of lodges at Dugla (4,620m). From Dugla, the trail starts to climb up steeply beside the glacier moraine. After a few hours, the track eventually leads to a small cluster of tea houses pleasantly situated at Lobuche (4,940m). We will spend the afternoon relaxing and continuing the process of slow acclimatisation.

  • Day 08 Trek Lobuche (4930m) to Gorakshep (5160m)

About three hours beyond Lobuche, we reach Gorak Shep (5,220m/17,126ft), the site of the 1953 expedition’s base camp. At 5200m, the tiny village is dwarfed by the enormous peaks on all sides. After Gorak Shep, we continue for another few hours to the current base camp where the ascents of Mount Everest depart. There we will be rewarded with amazing views of the Khumbu Ice Fall and will spend some time exploring the camp before returning to Gorak Shep for dinner and our overnight stay.

  • Day 09 Gorekshep - Kala Patthar (5630m) - Everest Base Camp (5400) - Gorakshep

The trail continues along the side of the Khumbu glacier. The path becomes rocky and awkward as we keep climbing across the moraine. The sugar loaf dome of Pumori (7145m) lies directly ahead. On the right-hand side, Nuptse rises in a sheer spire and behind it is an elusive sight of Everest.  You will have all afternoon at Gorak Shep to rest. You may also choose to continue on for an additional 6 hours to Everest Base Camp and back. Contrary to popular expectations, Everest Base Camp, whilst still a fascinating place, does not provide any views of Everest. It is the following day at Kala Pattar that you get the amazing panoramic views.

If you are feeling tired and suffering from any altitude symptoms, it is recommended that you save your energy and rest for the following day's trek to Kala Pattar, one of the highlights of the trip.

  • Day 10 Trek back Gorakshep (5160m) to Pheriche (4243m).

After an early breakfast you head back down to Pheriche. From Everest Base Camp you retrace you route and continue descending to the small collection of buildings at Dugla (4,620m/15,158ft). You continue down the broad valley to Pheriche. Overnight in Pheriche (4,240m/13,911ft).O/n at Lodge

  • Day 11 Trek back Pheriche (4243m) to Phortse Village (3670m)

The trail descends to Pangboche and now the trail starts turning up and down in every half an hour to Phortse.. On the way there is an opportunity to see wild life in and around the area like mountain goat, musk deer and many species of Himalayan birds. There are village monasteries in Pangboche and Phortse rich in cultural heritage of Sherpa people. Along this, you see an old monastery in Pangboche which is believed to have been established during 16th century. The Pangboche village is known to have highest permanent settlement throughout the year.

  • Day 12 Trek Phortse Village (3670m) to Khumjung (Green Valley)(3790m.)

The trail here descends for early twenty minutes and ascends up steeply for almost one hour to Mongla (4000m.). From this spot, you can see the panoramic view of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru, Konde-Ri and Tawache peak. Now the trail descends and ascends frequently up to Khumjung. The Khumjung village is said to have the largest settlement of Khumbu region. There is well-equipped high school built by Edmund Hillary in 1960. Not limited to this, there is an old monastery where the skull of Yeti is believed to have preserved. The neighboring village of Khumjung is Khunde where a well equipped Hospital is built by Edmund Hillary in 1964.

  • Day 13 Trek back Khumjung (3790m.) to Monjo (2835m.).

While trekking from Khumjung to Monjo you come across few Sherpa settlements and you will meet friendly Sherpa people. Trekking this day is little bit easier in comparison to other days. Monjo is a small village and the area is mainly for agriculture. You can see people being engaged in agricultural activities.

  • Day 14 Trek to Lukla (2800m)

We trek back down to Lukla while enjoying the lush green scenery, incredible mountain views and waterfalls, and a local Sherpa village. We often share the trail and bridges with porters carrying unbelievable loads, yaks, donkeys, horses, and goats, all part of the local landscape.
